Do You Need a VPN?

If you have multiple business locations, or would like to access your time clock data from home or while traveling, you can easily connect to your TimeClock Server using the Internet. The most secure remote connection is achieved by using a virtual private network (VPN). A VPN allows a computer to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if it is directly connected to the private network, which means it benefits from all the security of the private network. Many businesses use VPNs to connect remote locations, for employees to access network resources when they’re not physically on the same LAN (local area network), or as a method for employees to send secure and encrypted communications when they’re using a public network.

Most VPNs work by launching VPN client software on your computer and logging in. Your computer then exchanges security keys with a remote server to verify your identity. Now all of your Internet communication is encrypted and secured from eavesdropping. Contact your IT professional for assistance in setting up a VPN.
