When is Independence Day 2024?

June 13, 2024

In the United States Independence Day is always celebrated on the 4th of July. This year Independence Day falls on a Thursday. As a federal holiday, most banks, government offices, and businesses will be closed on the 4th.

Independence Day | A Pivotal Moment in American History
The 4th of July holds a significant place in American history. On this date in 1776, the Second Continental Congress took a bold step: adopting the Declaration of Independence. This document served as a formal break from British rule, laying the groundwork for a nation built on freedom and self-governance. The signing of the Declaration of Independence by 56 delegates a month later would further solidify this historic event.

Independence Day became a federal holiday in 1870, giving Americans the opportunity to gather and celebrate core values like liberty, unity, and patriotism. It's a day filled with family gatherings, festive parades, and dazzling fireworks displays.

A Friendly Reminder: Our neighbors to the north celebrate their independence on July 1st, Canada Day!

This day serves as a powerful reminder of the courage displayed by the 56 delegates who defied British rule, paving the way for the freedoms we cherish today.
