When is Columbus Day 2023?
Columbus Day is the only federal holiday in the month of October. It always falls on the second Monday in October, so this year, the holiday falls on October 9th, 2023.
Columbus Day commemorates the landing of Christopher Columbus in the Americas on October 12, 1492. It became a national holiday by proclamation in 1937 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Since Columbus Day is a federal holiday, all non-essential federal government offices are closed on Columbus Day, and all federal employees are paid even if they receive the day off. Many private-sector businesses may also take the day off and pay their employees for a holiday.
We will be open during our normal business hours for Columbus Day, October 9th, 8am - 5pm PST. For information on other upcoming federal and business holidays, see our Federal and Business holiday calendars.
