As summer draws to a close, September ushers in the changing of the leaves and the return to school schedules. Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer and is the only federal holiday in September. Officially recognized as a holiday in 1894, Labor Day serves as a day to celebrate the contributions made by the American workforce to the nation's economic strength.

Labor Day always falls on the first Monday of September. This year Labor Day is celebrated on September 2nd.
