Control Time Clock Access with Virtual TimeClock 18

One of the new security enhancements introduced in Virtual TimeClock 18 gives you greater control over who can connect to your time clock. In previous versions, a password was required to login to a TimeClock Server. This solution worked well for many businesses, but some organizations prefer easier access to their time clock, so Virtual TimeClock 18 made passwords optional for logging into display groups.

By leaving passwords disabled, users can now login to the TimeClock Server and connect to their display group without needing to involve an administrator. Alternately, by enabling passwords, you can increase security by limiting who connects to your display groups.

Allow Users to Log Into Groups
For the Network Edition, an optional group password can be created allowing users to connect to the TimeClock Server without requiring a manager or administrator password. A group password is assigned in display group settings. A group password cannot be used to log into administration mode or clock users in. Follow the steps below to set a group password.
  1. Select Turn Administration On from the File menu.
  2. Select Display Groups from the Configure menu.
  3. Choose a group in the left column and in the Settings tab and select Create Group Password. If you have already created a group password, then it will say Modify Group Password instead.
  4. Select Apply to save the change for the current group.
  5. To create or modify a group password for other groups, repeat steps 2-3.
