November Holidays 2017

Two significant U.S. holidays occur in November. In 2017, Veteran's Day is observed on November 10th and Thanksgiving is celebrated on November 23rd.

Veteran's Day
Veteran’s Day is set aside to honor all military personnel who have served our country. In the United States we particularly honor our living veterans on Veteran's Day and our fallen soldiers on Memorial Day at the end of May.

The official Veteran's Day holiday is designated as November 11th. In 2017 this falls on a Saturday, so the holiday is observed on Friday, November 10th. Most banks, schools, and state and federal offices will be closed on the 10th. Most private sector businesses remain open on Veteran's Day.

Thanksgiving
America's first Thanksgiving was celebrated by the first European settlers. After their first harvest 1621, the Pilgrims enjoyed a feast of thanksgiving to God that lasted three days. A Thanksgiving holiday to commemorate this feast has occurred regularly since our nation's founding.

In 1864, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of "Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens." This marked the start of Thanksgiving as a federal holiday that is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. Today, many businesses also remain closed on the following Friday, making Thanksgiving a four day holiday for many Americans.

Redcort Software will be open on Veteran's Day and closed on November 23rd and 24th for Thanksgiving. At this time of year we give sincere thanks for the blessings and privilege of serving many loyal customers in over 70 countries around the world.
