Exporting Time Clock Logs

October 30, 2014

Virtual TimeClock has built-in logging capabilities that makes it easy to check for program errors, the status of scheduled time clock data backups, and changes to time clock data. Use the audit logs to view modifications to timecards, when manual entries were added, and when payroll periods were closed. Use the backup logs to verify scheduled backups were successful. The error logs may help in determining the events surrounding an unexpected program termination or other uncharacteristic program behavior. And the information logs record general program information. It's easy to export the logs for review in any text editing software like TextEdit or Notepad.

To access the logs in the Pro Edition, turn on administration and go to Configure Program Logs. Each log folder can be opened to view the contents or all of the logs can be exported to your desktop for further analysis by clicking Export. Each log folder consists of the current log entries and one or more log archives. All of the log entries are arranged chronologically.

With the Network Edition, each Pro Client has logs that record time clock information originating from that computer. They can be accessed by turning on administration and going to Configure Program Logs. The logs for all of the time clocks are centralized at the Virtual TimeClock Server Manager. Launch the Server Manager and click Logs. Just like with the Pro Edition, each log folder can be opened to view the contents or all of the logs can be exported to your desktop for further analysis by clicking Export.
